The SuperEval team is excited to announce an upgrade to Step 2.b for employee evaluations! Along with the visual upgrade, there are several new functions and features that will help districts navigate the evaluation process more smoothly than ever before! This article will introduce you to these changes and new features to ensure your evaluation process remains seamless.
Starting or Viewing an Evaluation
Grid Format
Step 2.b now lists all the individuals participating in the evaluation in a grid format. The employee being evaluated is shown near the top of the page under the Self-Evaluation section. The employee or evaluator can access the employee's self-evaluation here.
Each participating evaluator is included further down the page, either in the Used Evaluations or Omitted Evaluations section (depending on the status). Each evaluator has their own tile (pane) containing their portion of the evaluation and all pertinent details.
Starting or Viewing an Evaluation
To begin your evaluation (if you haven't already done so in Step 2.a), either click the green Start Evaluation button in the upper left corner of the page or the green Start Evaluation button located in the section of the grid view containing your name. Once you have started an evaluation, these button names will change to Edit Evaluation. You may click either of the Edit Evaluation buttons to resume the evaluation. Once you have completed your portion of the evaluation, the button names will change to View Evaluation, which you can click to examine a view-only version of your evaluation.
If you are an evaluator looking to begin or resume your evaluation of an employee, follow the same steps as above (first ensure you have chosen the desired employee's evaluation from the Select Evaluation menu on your dashboard).
Using or Omitting Evaluations
An employee's evaluator may change in the middle of the school year due to personnel changes, district reorganization, etc., and their evaluation of the employee may be in an unfinished state. SuperEval now gives the active primary (lead) evaluator the freedom to view, omit, or include a previous evaluator’s work as part of the evaluation consolidation process.
By default, SuperEval will omit a previous evaluator's work, which will display in a whole new section called Omitted Evaluations at the bottom of the grid view. As the new primary (lead) evaluator, you may opt to include the previous evaluator's work by clicking the carat symbol to expand the list and display the omitted evaluations, clicking Options, and selecting Use Evaluation. The previous evaluator's ratings and comments will now be incorporated into the consolidated evaluation.
To omit an evaluation that is currently being used/included, locate the evaluator’s evaluation in the grid layout that you want to exclude, click Options, and select Omit Evaluation. The previous evaluator's ratings and comments will now be omitted from the consolidation of evaluation data but will remain viewable in Step 2.b.
Evaluation Indicators
In adopting the new grid view for displaying the information on this page, evaluation status indicators are present to convey where each individual's portion of the evaluation stands.
- Locked / Unlocked - indicates if the employee or evaluator has access to view your portion of the evaluation
- Used / Omitted - indicates if the evaluator's portion of the evaluation will be included in the data consolidation
- Primary Evaluator - indicates who is assigned as the lead evaluator of the evaluation
-
Not Started / In Progress / Completed - indicates the progress status of the evaluation (users can manually mark their portion of the evaluation complete despite not reaching full completion in the progress bar)
Evaluation Options
The options available to you depend on your role in the evaluation.
- Mark Evaluation Complete / Incomplete - allows you to manually indicate if you have completed your portion of the evaluation (even if some required fields remain incomplete)
- Lock / Unlock Evaluation Access - allows you to control the ability of the employee or evaluator to view your portion of the evaluation
-
Use / Omit Evaluation - allows the primary (lead) evaluator to determine if an evaluator's work will be included in the consolidation of evaluation data
Weighing Evaluations
On the new Step 2.b screen, primary evaluators can alter the weight of each evaluation, to give more impact to certain evaluations in the consolidation of data, as needed. The weight value is listed to the right of the progress bar. It is recommended that you ensure that the total value of all weights adds up to 100%, so it is easier to understand the final weighted scores at the conclusion of the evaluation. Only the weights of the Used Evaluations will be accounted for.
Emailing Participants
Anyone involved in a given evaluation can send emails to the other participants, as needed, from the Step 2.b screen. Click on Email Participants at the top of the screen:
Uncheck any participants you do not want to be included in the email, if necessary, and add the body of the message. Press Send and your message will be sent.
Recipients will receive an email from noreply@supereval.com labeled with your name and signed by you at the bottom:
Marking Evaluations Complete
Whenever a user fully completes an evaluation, it is automatically marked as complete. However, some users recuse themselves from certain portions of an evaluation. If, for any reason, you need to leave a section unanswered, you can manually mark the evaluation as complete to indicate to the primary evaluator that you are finished.
To indicate that you have finished your portion of the evaluation, click the Mark Evaluation Complete button along the top of the screen.
Click Yes on the pop-up confirmation window. You will then return to your dashboard. The primary (lead) evaluator will carry out the next set of necessary actions.
