Based on PDE requirements, principals (including assistant/vice principals, supervisors of special education, and CTE directors) that fall under the temporary professional employee category require a semi-annual evaluation (in addition to the traditional full-year evaluation).
As such, there are two different approaches outlined below to incorporate a semi-annual evaluation into SuperEval.
ROLE: Principal / Principal Evaluator
NAVIGATION PATH: Dashboard > Step 2a or 2b > Overall Evaluation tab
Option 1:
- The evaluatee (employee) and evaluator (supervisor) complete Step 1 like a traditional SuperEval evaluation (refer to PA Principal: Self-Evaluation Guide and PA Principal: Reviewer's Evaluation Guide, respectively).
- In Step 2.b, the evaluator navigates to the Overall Evaluation tab and downloads a blank 13-2 Rating Form from the Shared Documents section.
- The evaluator then performs an evaluation of the evaluatee outside of SuperEval and completes the 13-2 form accordingly (to serve as the semi-annual evaluation).
- The evaluator tabs through the form to complete each blank field, and the signatures should be applied by both parties. Example:
- After completing the semi-annual evaluation, the evaluator saves the file as a PDF and uploads it to the Shared Documents section of the Overall Evaluation tab in Step 2.b.
- The evaluatee and evaluator then work through Steps 2.a and 2.b, respectively, to carry out the full-year evaluation over the remainder of the school year (refer to PA Principal: Self-Evaluation Guide and PA Principal: Reviewer's Evaluation Guide).
- After marking Step 2 complete, the rest of the evaluation process follows the traditional evaluation workflow, and the Final Evaluation generated at the end of the school year will contain a link to the uploaded semi-annual 13-2 form.
Option 2:
- The evaluatee (employee) and evaluator (supervisor) complete Step 1 like a traditional SuperEval evaluation (refer to PA Principal: Self-Evaluation Guide and PA Principal: Reviewer's Evaluation Guide, respectively).
- The evaluatee and evaluator complete their respective portions of Step 2 (like a traditional SuperEval evaluation). For assistance, refer to the support guides in step 1 above.
- In Step 2.b, the evaluator navigates to the Overall Evaluation tab and downloads a blank 13-2 Rating Form from the Shared Documents section.
- Step 2 is then marked complete by both parties to advance to Step 3.
- In Step 3:
- The evaluator copies all the information (including the calculated ratings) into the blank 13-2 (semi-annual) form and saves it as a PDF.
- The evaluator downloads a PDF of the Consolidated Evaluation (orange button).
- The evaluator rolls the evaluation back to Step 2 using the upward pointing arrow icon on the dashboard view.
- In Step 2.b, the evaluator uploads the completed semi-annual 13-2 form and Consolidated Evaluation PDF to the Shared Documents section of the Overall Evaluation tab.
- Both the evaluatee and evaluator then make adjustments to the evaluation in Steps 2.a and 2.b, respectively, to carry out the full-year evaluation over the remainder of the school year (i.e., adding more evidence and modifying rubric selections as needed).
- After marking Step 2 complete, the rest of the evaluation process follows the traditional evaluation workflow, and the Final Evaluation generated at the end of the school year will contain links to the uploaded semi-annual 13-2 form and corresponding semi-annual evaluation PDF).
