Board Self-Evaluation: Board President Guide (Legacy Workflow)

Welcome, Board President! This guide has been designed to support you in leading your board through the evaluation process within SuperEval. Each step outlined below ensures a smooth experience as you coordinate evaluations, compile data, and guide your board in setting and tracking annual objectives. Please note that these responsibilities can also be assigned to any Board Member in the Trusted Agent role.

Step 1: Board Self-Evaluation

Each board member independently completes a board self-evaluation.

1. Navigate to your Dashboard
2. Select the Evaluation dropdown and select Board Self-Evaluation
3. Click on Board Self-Evaluation

4. To begin your portion of the evaluation, click on the green Start Evaluation button in the top left corner of the page or the button located in the tile/pane containing your name

   

5. Assess each individual competency
   • Provide a Rating
   • Submit text evidence in My Feedback and Comments
   • Submit tangible evidence (documents, images, websites, etc.) in Supporting Evidence

6. Once you are ready to submit your evaluation, you have two options. 

   Click the Mark Evaluation Complete button within your portion of the evaluation

   Alternatively, navigate back to Step 1: Review, click the Options button, and select Mark Evaluation Complete

   

7. At this stage, no additional actions are required from individual board members - you, as Board President (or Trusted Agent), will take responsibility for coordinating with board members to manage the next steps in the process
8. As the Board President (or Trusted Agent), navigate back to the Dashboard and click Mark Complete to move onto Step 2 and compile all evaluations

Step 2: Board Evaluation Data

SuperEval automatically compiles self-evaluation data into a comprehensive report. This report allows the board to review results by collective average, individual responses, and highlights the highest and lowest-rated competencies. These insights provide a foundation for discussions celebrating the strengths of the board and also the perceived areas of need for development.

1. As the Board President (or Trusted Agent), navigate to your Dashboard
2. Click Board Evaluation Data
3. Click View Board Consolidated Evaluation Data to edit the consolidated evaluation
4. Select the Edit button to make changes to the consolidated evaluation and prep a final copy
5. Review the consolidated evaluation and make changes throughout to the Ratings, Reflections and Comments, and Supporting Evidence
6. Return to the Dashboard and click Review Completed to finalize the evaluation

Step 3: Identify Annual School Board Objectives 

Based on the self-evaluation data, the board collaborates to establish annual goals.

1. As the Board President (or Trusted Agent), navigate to your Dashboard
2. Click on Identify Annual School Board Objectives
3. Navigate to Step 1.a
4. Click Add to add additional goals
5. For each goal, add a title and description of the goal
   • Click on Annual School Board Objective Templates to select from some template goals
   • Click on Examples to select from example goals
   • Select Alignment to associate this goal with a competency
6. Navigate back to the Dashboard
7. Once you complete adding your school board objectives, click Mark Complete to advance to Step 4

Step 4: Monitor Progress on Objectives & Determine Results

The board documents progress toward achieving their goals throughout the year. At the conclusion of this process, the board evaluates whether the goals were effectively met.

1. As the Board President (or Trusted Agent), navigate to your Dashboard
2. Click Monitor Progress on Objectives & Determine Results
3. Assess each individual goal
   • Provide a Rating
   • Submit text evidence in My Feedback and Comments
   • Submit tangible evidence (documents, images, websites, etc.) in Supporting Evidence
4. Once you have finalized your assessment of each objective, navigate back to the Dashboard and click Mark Complete
