This article outlines the two available workflows for completing your Board of Education Self-Evaluations. It will outline primary differences in methodology between the two different workflows available and give a high-level overview of how they work in SuperEval.
The Goals-First Workflow
In this workflow, the Board President (or designated Trusted Agent) will perform the following in Step 1:
- Define the annual goals for the Board of Education
- Align these goals with relevant professional practices in the evaluation rubric (optional)
- Deselect any professional practices that will not be relevant to the focus of the evaluation (optional), much like all the other evaluation types within SuperEval
- Re-define the weight of each domain within the evaluation (optional)
Once Step 1 is complete, each board member will complete their self-evaluation of the entire board in Step 2.
In Step 3, the board members' individual evaluations are all consolidated to provide a comprehensive report and deliverable documents to show the results of the evaluation process.
The Reflection-First Workflow
In the reflection-first workflow, Board Members begin with the self-evaluation based on all domains within the rubric. Once each board member has completed the evaluation, the data is consolidated in Step 2 and the board then uses that data to identify and draft the annual board objectives in Step 3.
In Step 4, the Board President rates the board's performance and progress toward these goals and finalizes the evaluation.
