Pennsylvania principal evaluations have some unique nuances that differentiate it from other evaluation types. The Principal's Annual Goals and Component Selection (Step 1) is outlined here.
ROLE: Principal
NAVIGATION PATH: Dashboard > Step 1 (including 1.a, 1.b, & 1.c)
After logging into your account, click on Step 1 of the dashboard.
In Step 1.a, enter your Performance Goals with the guidance of your Evaluator and district guidelines.
After finishing Step 1.a, the principal's portion of Step 1 is technically complete. Please consult with your evaluator regarding the Select Components (Step 1.b) and Weights and Ranges (Step 1.c) portions. Only your evaluator has the ability to edit the fields on these pages. Suggested selections/values will be pre-populated but can be customized to meet your needs.
If desired, your evaluator may select/deselect which components you will be evaluated on. Each of the four domains must include at least one component, as per the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).
If desired, your evaluator may also modify the desired weight of each domain and each performance goal. As mandated by PDE, each domain should be weighted between 10 and 30 percent.
The Building Level Data portion of the evaluation is not addressed until Step 3 of the process and is . Please see the related 13-2 Rating Form support guide for further details.
NOTE: If you are a professional employee who has transferred from one building to another within your LEA, you may use a substitute measure in lieu of Building Level Data for the first two school years of the new location assignment. Prior to administering the evaluation in the new location assignment, you and your evaluator (according to your LEA's specifications) must agree on the substitute measure(s) and the reallocation of the 10% weighting for calculating the final performance rating.
The Cut Score Ranges table displays the translation of numeric ranges (Earned Points) to their correlating Performance Ratings.
The Desired Weighting for Final Rating table illustrates the state-mandated weighting of each overall portion of the principal evaluation.
Once you and your evaluator have reviewed all portions of Step 1 together, you may finalize Step 1 by clicking the Mark Complete button on the dashboard.
